Minnesota Lynx started strongly and won the first quarter by 17-8. They continue to dominate in the second quarter and ended the first half with advance of 12 points. Golden State Valkyries returned to the match in the third quarter and reduced the lead of their opponents to 6 points, but Minnesota Lynx were unstoppable in the final sprint and closed the match with 72-53.
Natisha Hiedeman was the top-scorer for Minnesota Lynx with 21 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Napheesa Collier added 19 points for the winners, while Jessica Shepard finished the match with double-double, scoring 11 points and recording 14 rebounds and 3 assists.
Veronica Burton was the top for Golden State Valkyries with 8 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists, while Kaila Charles and Cecilia Zandalasini added also 8 points, each.
The first play-off between the two teams is on September 15th.
