Phoenix Mercury defeated Indiana Fever by 85-79 recording their 26th win for the WNBA season. This is their 5th consecutive victory and thus climbed to the third position in the Western Conference.
Alyssa Thomas was the top scorer for Phoenix Mercury with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. DeWanna Bonner and Satou Sabally added 19 points and 13 points, respectively, for the victory. Kahleah Copper and Sami Whitcomb also contributed with double-digit points.
For Indiana Fever, Kelsey Mitchell scored 29 points and also recorded 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Lexie Hull contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist and Aliyah Boston added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
Indiana Fever started the match strongly, taking a lead of three points at 4-7 and then at 9-12, but after that Phoenix Mercury made a strong series to comeback and turned the score to 17-12. Indiana Fever succeeded to equalize for a while, but the first quarter finished in favor of Phoenix Mercury by 25-23.
The second quarter was under the dominance of the Mercury, who increased their lead to 54-39, while in the third quarter Indiana Fever recovered some of the deficit and narrowed it to 10 points – 67-57. The last quarter was again for Indiana Fever, but their pace was not enough to take the win and the match ended at 85-79.
